Agriculture and Allied Employees's Union of Nigeria (AAEUN)
Origin of AAEUN


The name of the Union is Agriculture and Allied Employees Union of Nigeria (AAEUN). It was incorporated in 1978 and it is affiliated to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The Headquarters of the National Union is located-at plot 609, Opposite Federal High Court of Justice, Along University of Abuja Teaching Hospital Road, Gwagwalada , Abuja. The Union maintains offices in the 36 States of the Country and excluding the Federal Capital Territory Abuja (FCT)
The Union Motto!
"AGRICULTURE IS LIFE AND OUR HERITAGE"
Objectives

  • To secure the complete Organization of all Agricultural Workers. To regulate the relations between the workers and Employers and among workers themselves.
  • The attainment and maintenance of a high standard of workmanship and professional practice.
  • The advancement of the education and training of members and staff etc.

Jurisdiction:
Workers in all Agricultural and livestock Production, Plantation, Agricultural and Livestock Animal Husbandry Fisheries and Horticulture, Veterinary Services, Pest Control, irrigation Service, Forestry, Logging and Games Reserve.
Membership Rights:
No persons shall be deprived of membership of the union on ground of sex, religion, political beliefs, ethnicity origin and nationality, provided the person is in the service of Agricultural and Allied Establishment.
Funding:
Each Union member pays monthly check-off dues of 3k per naira (N) or 30% basic salary or wage per month.


Governments:
The government of the Union is vested in nine different organs,
i          National Delegates Conference (NDC)
ii.           National Executive Council (NEC)
iii.       Central 'Working Committee (CWC)
IV.          Zone Committee (ZC)
v.        State Delegates Conference (SDC)
VI.         State Executive Council (SEC)
vii,    State Administrative Committee (SAC)
viii.   Branch Congress (BC)
IX.          Branch Executive Committee (BEC)
Membership:
We have membership of one hundred thousand members in both the public and private sector excluding more than 3 million informal Sector Farmers.
International Affiliation:
The Union is a financial member to Public Services International (PSI) and the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations (lUF). Their headquarters is based in Geneva, Switzerland,
Coverage:
AAEUN is the only Union in the Agricultural Sector in the country - second to oil and gas in terms of revenue earner for the Federal government of Nigeria. The Agric Sector employs a substantial percentage of the workforce of the working population. (Both formal and informal workers).
Political Head:
The Political Head of the Union is Comrade Simon Anchaver, and presides over 13 national members that make up the Central Working Committee (CWC) while the Head of Administration is Comrade Ededuan Sunday Aitokhuehi. Below is the Profile of Comrade Simon Anchaver:
Comrade Simon Msuguter Anchaver was born in Gwer Village, Gwer Local Government Council of Benue State, Nigeria. He started his Primary Education in 1976 at NKST Primary School, Taraku, from where he proceeded to undergo his Secondary School Education at Government Comprehensive School, Naka, Gwer West Local Government. He spent five (5) years and finally obtained his West


African School Certificate (WAS C) in 1981. He attended the University o       I                        .  where he obtained his BSC Economics in 1998. He also holds an MScDevelopment Studies obtained in 2012, from Benue State University.
Comrade Anchaver gained employment at the Benne State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (BNARDA) in 1988 from where he started his Civil Service Career in the Account Department He gradually rose to the rank of Assistant Director (Finance), a position he presently ocuppy  in BNARDA.
He is a Chattered member of ANAN - a. Professional Accounting body in Nigeria. His natural love for the protection of workers against exploitation at work-place is inbuilt in him over the years. He got to its peck when he was elected the Branch Chairman of the Agriculture and Allied Employees' Union of Nigeria (AAEUN), BNARDA Branch, a position he held for 8 years. Having performed credibly well he was elected as the Benue State Chairman of the Union, where he served for 2 terms of 4 years each. In 2008, be won election during the Merger Conference between AASSA and AA WUN as the National Vice President (North Central) in
the newly formed AAEUN.
He was unanimously elected as the National President of AAEUN at the 2012 Nation al Delegates Conference. His first tenure would terminate in May, 2016. He was the immediate past State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Benue State. Comrade Anchaver has vested interest in politics. He looks forward to occupying an apex position in the Benue State Politics in 2019.
Comrade Anchaver is married and blessed with Four (4) Children.
Bilateral Relationship:
AAEUN has a healthy bilateral relationship with the General Agricultural Workers Union of the Trade Union Congress (GAWU (TUC) Ghana.
